MODERN MINIMALISM - Granite, amethyst & onyx

THE STORY:
This expansive renovation project comprising over several years has included design, construction, and project management for both front and backyard landscaping, as well as exterior and interior design for architectural surfaces throughout the home. Celebrating the beauty of simplicity, minimalist appearance, and oriental inspiration, where one has a deep appreciation for serenity and taking time out to be present in the moment. This stylish and contemporary family home has been designed to offer an array of alluring spaces to relax, swim, garden and entertain. The incorporation of clean lines, organic shapes, limited natural materials, a monochromatic colour palette accompanied with metallic and onyx accents, and a play on light, shadow, and texture creates a peaceful and tranquil mood. The backyard landscaping comprises of rendered concrete and amethyst painted walls that offer a sense of privacy, contrasted with linear, timber walls and concrete seating, to create warmth and functional spaces to reside. The detailed craftsmanship of the roof, walls, floors & custom-made furniture is a credit to all the craftsmen, further elevating the look and feel of the home. The two backyard pavilion structures specifically designed to modernise the 1980’s home offers versatile abodes to entertain and relax with family, friends or self, a necessity for this modern pool area. An abstract rusted steel art installation and walls provide screening and an interesting element to view from the entertainment pavilion. Hard and soft wearing floor surfaces in exposed aggregate reflects twinkling minerals in the light, complimented by a soft lawn and a firepit surrounded by random bluestone pavement welcomes gatherings at any time of the day or night. The front yard landscaping materiality is comprised of retaining walls in ‘salt n pepper’ block granite, aniseed cobblestone pathways, timber battens utilised as privacy screens, gates, and staircase balustrades paired with Italian porcelain steps to enhance the newly rendered and Colourbond steel cladded home. Specific plantings throughout the entire scape have been carefully selected, such as maples, Himalayan birch, purple foliage, silver natives, evergreen scented vertical walls, sculptural succulents, bamboo, and moss that adds varying textures, form, and ever-changing colours throughout the different seasons. Bringing the outside to the inside, by transferring natural materials, concrete colour, geometric shape, and line onto surfaces for the fully renovated contemporary interior. Interior photoshoot coming soon…
